Friday: 'Baubles, Bangles and Bags' benefit

Share
More than 100 new, vintage, designer and celebrity handbags will be featured at the Peninsula Volunteers' fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 13, at the Menlo Circus Club, 190 Park Lane in Atherton.

Celebrity bags will include those donated by or signed by Maria Shriver, Meg Whitman, Cheryl Burke of "Dancing with the Stars," Michael Kors, Pat Montadon, Phyllis Diller, and "American Idol" singer Katharine McPhee. The silent auction will also include a bag belonging to the late Lana Turner.

This is the first "Baubles, Bangles and Bags," which the Peninsula Volunteers hope to make an annual event. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for a champagne reception and silent auction.

Jewelry designer Stephen Dweck will present a collection of his original designs at 11:15 a.m. Mr. Dweck's jewelry has been featured in fine stores since his first line was launched at Bergdorf Goodman in 1981. His jewelry is on permanent display in the costume department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the fashion archives of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.

A luncheon and fashion show follow at 12:30 p.m., with fashions from Marian Clayden, Jackie Jones, and Amber by Graciana.

Pat Grillos and Sandy Ferrando of Atherton are co-chairman of the event. Tickets are $100 general or $150 for a sponsor. For more information or reservations, call 326-0665, ext. 238.

For more than 60 years, Peninsula Volunteers has been a pioneer in senior services on the Peninsula. Each year Peninsula Volunteers contributes more than $4 million in services, including 150,000 hot meals through its Meals on Wheels program. The organization also operates Little House Activity Center, Rosener House Adult Day Services, and Peninsula Volunteers Properties, which provides senior housing.
