Rosewood Sand Hill hotel, at 2825 Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, will mark the beginning of the holidays from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, when the hotel's 30-foot tree is lighted.

The event, to be held in the hotel's library and lobby, will include Dickens-era costumed carolers, hot cider and "winter wonderland" goodies. The public is invited to attend.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until Dec. 23, mulled cider and holiday sweets will be available in the hotel's library.
