Share
The Menlo College men's basketball team may have to start taking the bus to its home games at Haynes-Prim Pavilion. For whatever reason, the Oaks have been frustrated on their home court.

Tim Kees and Nick McCullar each scored 15 points but Menlo dropped a 70-69 decision to visiting Notre Dame de Namur in a nonconference affair Friday evening.

Ryan Dung added 10 points for the Oaks (4-8), who fell to 0-5 at home. including two straight by two points or less.

Menlo, which has lost four straight overall, opens its Cal Pac Conference schedule at Holy Names on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be preceeded by the Menlo-Holy Names women's game at 5:30 p.m.

The Oaks were within three points when Notre Dame's Chris Silzer missed the front end of a one-and-one with 10 seconds left.

McCullar grabbed the rebound to give Menlo a chance to tie. The Oaks went inside to McCullar, who scored but couldn't draw the foul and the game ended with the Argoanuts running out the clock.

Menlo led, 44-38, with about 14 minutes remaining to play but a lack of success from the foul line and 18 total turnovers conspired against the Oaks, who nearly overcame a 10-point deficit over the final five minutes.

Menlo shot 51 percent from the field but were 50 percent from the foul line. The Oaks also the rebounding battle, 29-24.
