Tonight: Menlo Park City School District hosts meeting for prospective candidates

District residents who are interested in running for the Menlo Park School District Board of Education in the Nov. 2 election are invited to a Candidate Information Night at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 2.

The informational meeting will be held in the district office at 181 Encinal Ave. in Atherton.

Current board members Maria Hilton and Mark Box will talk about the roles and responsibilities of board members, discuss district initiatives and challenges, provide details on filing as candidates with San Mateo County, and answer questions.

There will be three seats on the five-member board up for election. The filing period to become a candidate is July 12 through Aug. 6.

Does anybody know if anybody attended this program or expressed an interest in the school race, of if the three incumbents are planning to run? Just curious if there will be an election or not.
