Mountain lion spotted in Portola Valley

A mountain lion was spotted in a rural residential neighborhood in Portola Valley on Wednesday night, San Mateo County emergency officials said.
The cat was seen at about 7:40 p.m. in the area of the 100 and 200 blocks of Willowbrook Drive.
San Mateo County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the neighborhood, but the mountain lion had moseyed elsewhere by the time they arrived.
Residents are advised not to approach mountain lions, and should avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk, and night, when the animals are most active.
In the event of a mountain lion encounter, emergency officials advise residents to try to appear large and make noise.

Lions up in the Los Trancos Woods, including myself who saw one on Los Trancos Rd last week in the late evening. Many neighbors are weighing in on seeing them and the kills left behind.
