Saturday: Simitian to discuss state of education

Bookmark and Share
State Sen. Joe Simitian, D-Palo Alto, will discuss Gov. Jerry Brown's budget and general trends in an "education update" Saturday in Palo Alto.

Simitian, a former Palo Alto school board member who is now a member of the Senate Education Committee, convenes the updates several times a year, typically drawing more than 100 school administrators and school board members from Santa Cruz to San Carlos.

"These education updates give me an opportunity to hear what local education leaders and advocates are thinking," Simitian said in a statement. "Knowing that helps me better serve our local schools and kids.

"Given the current budget situation, it's more important than ever for elected officials to hear from the folks they represent."

The session, open to the public, will be from 10 a.m. to noon in the board room of Palo Alto school district headquarters, 25 Churchill Ave. in Palo Alto.

Isn't there a budget that is supposed to be passed?

Isn't that what he's being paid to do?

No work- No budget- No pay
