This photograph of Stephen and Victoria Mariani is thought to be their 1879 wedding portrait. A prosperous San Francisco hardware merchant for most of the 20th century, Stephen Mariani and his family spent summers on the Mariani Ranch, now the Portola Valley subdivision called Blue Oaks. Posted by Westside trucker, a resident of the Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park neighborhood, on Oct 11, 2011 at 1:47 pm The Marianis ran a hardwood store near 29th and Mission Street in San Francisco up to WW2. It had wooden floors and you could buy anything from a nut and bolt, to a belt for your Singer Sewing machine or a Model A Ford. If you had a cow, you could get a bale of hay.
