Bernie Roth was born to Kalman and Miriam Roth in Brooklyn, New York. Bernie was 91 years old. He married his high school sweetheart, Toby Gartman, and they had a wonderful life together for 70 years. She preceded him in death two years ago.
Bernie served in WWII in the Army/Air Force, with the 447 squadron in a B-17 as a bombardier, and flew 80 missions. Upon his return from the war, he managed his in-laws' chicken farm in New Jersey. He and Toby had two children, Rick and Cheri.
Bernie worked his way through college then moved the family to California for a better life. He worked for GE and IBM, where he spent 30 years as a project manager for the development of software architecture.
He enjoyed traveling the world with Toby and spent many years as an avid golfer. Toby and Bernie spent their remaining years in Palo Alto. Bernie died peacefully on Aug. 23 with family by his side.
He is survived by his son Rick and wife Carey, his daughter Cheri and husband Steve, and the light of his life, his granddaughter, Lindsey. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially his loving and grateful family.
