Gert ("Gerry") Schloss passed away peacefully and in the midst of his family at 90 years of age in his Atherton home on Saturday, Aug 18.

A Jewish native of Hanover, Germany, he and his immediate family fled to the U.S. in 1939. Arriving here with nothing, he was always grateful for the opportunity his new home provided. Gerry met Joan Gastineau, his wife of 67 years, in San Francisco, and they both served in the navy during WWII. They later had three sons and built a successful textile business.

Gerry loved his wife and family, flying, playing tennis from his youth through his 80s, international travel, a great sense of humor, and a close circle of dear friends.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Jeff (Melody), Ron and Bob; his sister, Inge; his grandchildren, Nathanael, Micah (Nicole) and Gabriel; his great granddaughter, Grace; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will host a celebration of his life Sept. 15 (his birthday) at 4:30 p.m. at the Menlo Circus Club.
