Lasting Memories
Blanche Guislin
May 3, 1928-June 16, 2012
Palo Alto, California
Blanche Guislin (nee MacCulloch) died in Palo Alto, Calif., on June 16, 2012. Born in Garden of Eden, Nova Scotia, Canada, Blanche was the oldest of five children to parents Helen Blanche (nee MacDonald) and James Albert MacCulloch.
Blanche had both great curiosity and a fierce independence that compelled her to adventure widely. She was a natural athlete who played hockey in her youth and remained an avid skier and golfer her entire life. In her 70s she had a go at the flying trapeze. She loved good food and good wine and cherished the time she lived in Calistoga, Calif., where she worked in the Police Department as a Parking Enforcement Officer. Blanche especially loved spending summers on the coast of Southern Maine.
Blanche died in the loving care of son, John, and daughter-in-law, Beth, of Palo Alto, Calif. Blanche is also survived by son, Richard of Damariscotta, Maine; grandson, Andrew of Antrim, N.H.; brother, Clifford MacCulloch; and sisters, Betty Torkelsen and Shirley Dimery. Her youngest son, David, father of Andrew, preceded her in death.
Her 5'2" frame was home to spirit of immense energy. May her fearlessness teach us all lessons about how to live a full life.
