Katoko was active with South Bay Sanctuary Covenant, supporting peace and justice in El Salvador. She traveled to El Salvador more than once to serve as an elections observer. She was a dedicated member of Palo Alto Friends Meeting for many years, bringing compassion, wisdom, and service to the Meeting (notably, as Treasurer for a long period). Both Katoko and Ron responded to Katoko's illness, treatment, and then approaching death with courage and strength that will always inspire me.
