Report by Nick Athens, parent of a player.

The Strikers Class 1 Boys Under 10 premier soccer team recently won the fall 2007 Abronzino League title with a 9-1 record. Competing in a division that extends from Burlingame to Santa Cruz, the team because the first Striker team to win a Class 1 Division 1 championship.

Coached by Kalwant Sandhu and managed by Anne Carr, the Strikers scored a total of 24 goals over 10 games and gave up a league low of 7 goals.

After the championship, the team won third place in the Super division at the Norcal Cup on Nov. 18 in Manteca, California. The Strikers competed against 56 other teams, with some 700 boys in the Under 10 category, and lost a tough semi-final, double-overtime game 3-2 in the last minute.

In the spring of 2008, the team will expand to 11 on the field. For more information, check the Striker Web site: www.mpstrikersfc.com.
