Sean submitted for the competition an essay, two children's non-fiction fantasy stories, and two children's fiction stories.
In addition to the awards, the California Writers Club will present him with an honorable mention for Most Promising Writer of the Year during a ceremony at the fair.
Sean will read four of his children's stories for Children's Day at the fair. All of the fair's winning entries can be found in the fine arts department, located behind the Visual Arts building at the fair.
Sean is an editor for Amazing-kids.org, a Seattle based international online children's magazine.
Honorary degree for Anthony S. Bryk
Anthony S. Bryk of Menlo Park was awarded an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Boston College at the college's 134th commencement May 24.
Mr. Bryk is president of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, a policy and research center founded in 1905. It is located at 51 Vista Lane at Stanford University.
Mr. Bryk's honorary degree says, in part: "Anthony S. Bryk has applied his analytical skills to become one of America's most eminent researchers on school reform during the past 50 years. ... He leads one of the world's most powerful policy research centers, which seeks to help transform the way our nation prepares its teachers and uses technology in education."
Mr. Bryk, a 1970 graduate of Boston College, is also a consulting professor of organizational behavior at Stanford's Graduate School of Business.
