Parent volunteer Meredith Walsey shows Oak Knoll fifth-grader Axel Ljunggren how to sew a bag to be filled with shoes, clothing, and gift certificates, which will be distributed to low-income kids through the nonprofit My New Red Shoes. The school also raised funds through a bake sale each afternoon. The nonproft was founded by Menlo Park resident Heather Hopkins.
