Menlo traffic stop turns into drug bust

Running a stop sign can get you a ticket for at least $214, but as two men discovered on May 14, it can also rack up some jail time.

Menlo Park resident Terry Malone Jr., 49, and Derrick Walls, 43, of San Francisco, were pulled over by police for allegedly failing to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Newbridge and Chilco streets around 12:30 a.m. A search turned up 772 Ecstasy pills, worth an estimated $15,000, along with marijuana, heroin and a large amount of cash, according to the police report.

Both suspects were taken to San Mateo County jail and booked on numerous narcotics violations, police said.
