What are local communities doing? They are opposing any further improvements to the Caltrain line, such as electrification and grade separation.
Although these projects are difficult and will require some sacrifices, they will provide long term benefits to Menlo Park, the entire Peninsula, and our climate, because they will allow fast, frequent, and clean electric trains without noisy horns.
Menlo Park and Atherton need to move into the 21st Century when it comes to rail transportation, or our commute, our air quility, and the climate will continue to suffer.
This article represents the worst kind of reporting -- we should expect much much better from the Almanac. Shame on you Marion Softky for not doing at least a little home work to validate such outrageous claims from Mr. Will Travis.
I am not gong to waste my time going into any kid of rebuttal on the ridiculous predictions printed in this article.
Mr. Gibboney we deserve at least some semblance of truth in articles you publish. Where is your editorial restraint.
I cannot believe this
we need to do something!!!!!1
>> Mr. Travis showed maps, prepared by BCDC, that showed what the Bay Area would look like if the sea rose by one meter three feet. That rise could come by 2100 or sooner, or later according to studies by the California Climate Action Team, he said.
And when he is proved WRONG Mr. Travesty will be long dead with everyone laughing at his folly.
I would not want to be his kid.
Manmade global warming is fake and a damn lie. Forced on all of us by carnival barkers with little or no education.
Not Chicken Little, You're very clear that you don't believe humans are responsible for global warming. Do you at least agree that global warming is a real phenomenon? If so, what's your gripe with the predictions of a rising sea level?
Dear Not Chicken.
I like the name you gave yourself and think it is actually quite aptm for you obviously have a beef (ha, ha). Are you suggesting that everyone who's concerned about global warming is a "carnival barker with little or no education"? It seems you don't respect such people on acoount of their poor education. Honestly, this is just about the flimsiet, most ridiculour reason for discounting someone, as I'm sure you'll agree after amoment's reflection. For one thing, plenty of well eductade people are not exactly brilliant, and plenty of brilliant people aren't exactly well educated, especially formally. More to the point, let's take Elizabeth Kolbert, Douglas Hansen, and Al Gore. It would seem you have such people in mind. If, in your view, these three remarkably accomplished people have "little or no education," then what, pray tell, do you mean by "education"? Perhaps you would be willing to reveal your own educational background.
Well global warming is not a hoax and humankind certainly contributes to it. However, the changes are nowhere out of line with the changes that has been occuring for millions of years. What is indeed a hoax is that reduction of burning fossil fuels will have any significant impact on it. I see the "global warming" followers as gullibel idiots that are helping covering up the real problem: We have reached the limits to oil production and from now on we will experience a continuing decline or at best a shortlived eveness in production as well as rising demands from developing countries. So in order to disguise that we will see rising problems with supply they magnify a rather small problem to make it take peoples minds away from the real causes... Pretty obvious if you take the time to look at the scientific facts from various resources and not only from one resource as the media does. However, all resources says that oil production has declined for the past few years and the new "gigantic" fields that has been found are TINY compared to where the world is currently getting the oil from: Old worn out saudiarabian fields from the 1960s.
Get real dudes...
