With Menlo Park and Atherton aboard, suit against high-speed rail could be filed this week

Never one to be left behind when it comes to high-speed-rail advocacy, the city of Menlo Park is joining several other plaintiffs, including the town of Atherton, in asking a judge to reopen a lawsuit against the California High-Speed Rail Authority.

Hooray for cars, congestion and global warming. Let's kill high speed rail and drive SUVs forever!!!!

Right. Because all the SUVs you see (a lot fewer than a decade ago, by the way) are being driven by people who are traveling to LA, not by parents taking their kids across town to go to school or soccer practice.

Whenever someone doesn't want to respond to a legitimate comment, they shove their twitter, Ipad, Iphone kids in front of the subject and then ignore them when it comes to the realities of these brats lives of privilege and after that, pay their monthly gaming bills.

HSR is not the answer to the problems of local or regional traffic congestion, or to get people out of cars, or to help the climate change problems. The reason is that it would not help local transit at all, which is where those problems are acute already and will only get worse. Local transit is almost nonexistent and service is deteriorating.

HSR would siphon transit money away from funding more important priorities such as local transit ... and education...
