Letter: Clarke has qualifications for Menlo council

Original post made on Nov 2, 2012

The Menlo Park City Council could use someone with experience on a city board or commission, experience with the give-and-take of working with staff and citizens. East Menlo Park/Belle Haven has never been represented on the council, other than a Raychem employee many years ago.

Carolyn Clark opposed Measure L Pension Reform in Menlo Park. That puts her at odds with almost 72% of the people in voted in the 2010 Menlo Park election. Kelly Fergusson and Dave Bragg also opposed pension reform. But with Kelly Fergusson's flagrant and repeated violations of the Brown Act and Dave Bragg's bankruptcies there is no question that out of the three candidates who opposed Measure L Carolyn Clark is the best qualified.

However, that is not enough, I urge Menlo Park Voters to vote for the two candidates who support pension reform. These are Ray Mueller and Catherine Carlton. They are truly best in class.

I urge a vote for Dave Bragg. He's not beholden to anyone and that is exactly what this city needs.

Dave Bragg never stated that he did not ask for endorsements. Obviously, all candidates ask current and former council members for endorsements. Ray Mueller and Catherine Carlton are the only candidates to receive endorsements from both current and former council members. Dave Bragg is the only candidate to receive no endorsements from current or former council members. Promoting this lack of confidence (from those that understand the role of city council) is bizarre.

Actually it's not bizarre if you don't like the status quo, which I don't. I'm tired of having a council that either co tows to labor or to the developer iterests in this town. One only need look at what is going to happen to El Camino with the Arillaga project to yunderstand why.

An outsider with fresh perspective and who is not beholden to anyone is what is needed.

Vote for Dave Bragg.

DAVE BRAGG IS THE CLEAR CHOICE FOR MENLO PARK CITY COUNCIL !!! I am sick and tied of leaving our city in the hands of people that use City Council as a stepping stone to advance their political agenda.
1. We should want someone we TRUST to run this great city... Check out this website and ask yourself what the other candidates do for a living verse what DAVE BRAGG does for a living, he has or is doing 3 of the top most trusted professions. Web Link.
2. We should want Someone that has given back and actually works in our community...Since 2003 DAVE BRAGG has given 100's and 100's of selfless volunteer hours to us and has not expected anything in return.
3. We should want Someone that will take charge and come up with solutions for us NOT someone that will drag out issues.
4. We should want someone who has "business sense" and has actual worked out with the "people" NOT coorprate types that have never gotten their hands dirty.

WE ALL SHOULD WANT SOMEONE LIKE DAVE BRAGG- HE IS A STRAIGHT SHOOTER.

VOTE FOR SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST- DAVE BRAGG

Why should any voter want Bragg on council? He can't manage his own finances as shown by his bankruptcy filings. Ridiculous. He certainly won't be elected.

Let me add, don't vote for Fergusson either. We have put up with 8 years of her self promotion antics. Her Brown act violation automatically disqualifies her to be on council; she should have resigned but wouldn't.

Now we see , she failed to get any fellow council members to endorse her --- they also want her gone.

you must be kidding:

you may want to reevaluate your conclusion that a bankruptcy filing makes Bragg unfit for office. Our econaomy caught many otherwise responsible people and trashed their incomes and their livelyhoods leaving them no other choice than to file for bankruptcy. This was through no fault of their own. Do you think everyone that has filed BK is unfit to serve? You're wiping a lot of otherwise qualified individuals off the board if you do.

You're right about Fergusson.

Vote Dave Bragg.

Some candidates have been knocking on doors, building grass roots support. A clear indication of this is when a resident agrees to put a lawn sign in their yard. Dave Bragg has bypassed this important vetting process, the same way he bypassed ever applying for a commission, or attending a city council meeting. In my neighborhood, the only signs for Dave Bragg have been affixed to utility polls, which is against the law.

Confidence:

I've seen Bragg's signs in numerous front yards. He also had community out reach meetings. So he's not "bypassing" anything.

Dave has very Americana signs posted in prominent sites, but more in the eastern part of MP, including east of 101, than west MP. This should not surprise anyone.

I think I understand better now and you are correct. Let's not judge someone for being an American that got caught up in a poor economy, But lets vote for someone that who fought for us so that we can have the freedom to participate in forums like this.
Thank you DAVE BRAGG for your service to our Country and YOU now have one of my votes for City Council of Menlo Park.
