wrong time, the report was at 8:30pm on Fairview Avenue, not 3:30pm since it was I that called and saw the prowler.

Maybe another caller ALSO called the police. Seems he was out and about for many hours.

Clearly states on the town of Atherton website that the first call came in at 8:30pm, so just not sure that reporters often do their homework. Nonetheless, hopefully everyone locks their doors and sets their alarms while not at home.

You all are correct about the time of the Fairview Avenue incident. When I copied and pasted the text of the press release to have it handy on my desktop, the time came across as 3:30 p.m.

An inexpert copy-and-paste from a certain type of PDF document can confuse the figures 8 and 3.

Thanks for pointing this out.
