Michael, thank you for running in this election. Receiving 22.5% of the vote, spending no money, and not having any big union endorsements, is nothing to sneeze at.
Your effort has proven that a SIGNIFICANT number of San Mateo County residents believe in the issues you stand for. People on these blogs have suggested your supporters are on the "fringe". I don't believe one in four citizens qualifies as a fringe.
Keep up the good work. At some point, it's going to pay off through an election win, and the progress you've made in the past several years has been considerable.
Congratulations to Don Horsley.
Let's keep this in perspective - Michael Stogner got 20%, the same as the combined total that the loons Kashkari (Bush's TARP guy) and Donnelly (the far right wing tea bagger) got in San Mateo County.
A San Mateo County democrat selling his soul to appeal to republicans and libertarians is a sure fire way to get....
20% of the vote.
That said, Michael Stogner ran, which is no small feat. I honor his efforts - he walked the walk. It is a very American thing to do.
Are you saying that Kashkari and Donnelly ran without spending money in their races for governor? Michael Stogner spent no money and still got the same amount of the voat they did. You cannot denigrate his base in this county. If he had spent money, his percentage would no doubt be far larger.
"If he had spent money, his percentage would no doubt be far larger." Sure, by a couple points. Maybe. But you twisted the frame to be about money - Michael Stogner got the republican and the (almost non-existent, given their obnoxious volume) libertarian vote.
*** Michael Stogner received about the same percentage as the two republicans for governor combined received in this county.
*** He received about the same percentage as the two republicans for lt. governor combined received in this county.
*** He received about the same percentage as the three republicans for attorney general combined received in this county.
*** He received about the a slightly smaller percentage as the republican for insurance commissioner received in this county.
*** He received about the same percentage as the republicans running against Speier received combined in this county.
*** He received about the a slightly smaller percentage as the republican running against Eshoo received in this county.
*** I could go on about the 19th, the 22nd the 24th, etc..
Notice a pattern?
Stop with the Koolaid.
Give the man his due, he ran; as opposed to libertarians who screech all year and can't field a candidate.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
