A bench warrant was issued after a 66-year-old man accused of backing a pickup truck into a Menlo Park police officer didn’t show up for a court hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 4, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Jerry Aaron Jenkins was arrested in July for alleged assault with a deadly weapon. He reportedly said he had not seen the officer, who was at the residence in the 1300 block of Henderson Avenue to investigate a code violation complaint.

Police said he had been previously citied for illegal car repairs, and the code enforcement officer had gone to take photographs of continuing violations. She was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by the truck.

After Tuesday’s no-show, the court forfeited his $25,000 bail and issued a warrant for his arrest with new bail set at $50,000. Mr. Jenkins is represented through the public defender program by Tom Kelley.

  1. San Mateo County doesn’t have a public defender program.

It’s a Private Defender Program, we are the only county out of 58 that has private.
