Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

An estimated 300 Comcast employees, family members and friends are expected to show up at Flood Park on Saturday, April 25, to weed the 21-acre site.

They will also paint the bathrooms, rake the volleyball courts and spruce up the baseball field, among other tasks, according those organizing the 14th Annual “Comcast Cares” event.

Located at 215 Bay Road in Menlo Park, the site is under the jurisdiction of San Mateo County for now, although the city’s council members — and the county Board of Supervisors — occasionally broach the idea of the city taking over the park.

  1. Thank you, Comcast employees, for your willingness to clean up Flood Park. Hooray for you and Comcast! But — it looks as if Murphy’s Law is about to get you: the weather service has predicted a 90% chance of rain for Saturday, the day of the clean-up! Will you postpone the clean-up to a day when no rain is forecast? I really hope so!

  2. Here is the National Weather Service forecast for Saturday, April 25, for Atherton< CA, as of the time I typed this (11 am, Thursday, April 23):

    “Saturday
Showers likely before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Southwest wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.”

(I got the 90% figure from “wunderground.com”. They still forecast a 90% chance of showers for Saturday.)

So — looks as though it really is going to rain here on Saturday. And it will be windy, too.
