Having trouble with Comcast TV signal in PV?
Portola Valley, posted by MJ Lee, a resident of the Portola Valley: Central Portola Valley neighborhood, on Feb 14, 2008 at 9:49 am

The Portola Valley Cable and Undergrounding Committee would like to know if citizens are seeing a quality issue with their Comcast TV signal. If this problem is wide enough, we will report it to Comcast. Some citizens have reported an infrequent but persistent break up or drop out in the picture and sound on certain channels. If you are having this problem, please send me a message.

Please state any patterns you've noticed, such as particular

channel(s), time of day, etc.

Thank you,

MJ Lee

We began experiencing this kind of problem last November. It only occurs on our HD channels. Both picture and sound would drop out.

After three visits and 3 set top boxes the problem seems to have been mostly resolved. The real fix came from the technician reconfiguring the splitters at the connection to our house so that the line to our high def TV had it's signal strength increased by 3 db. Since then it seems to be OK but the problem was always intermittent and we are not yet sure it is solid.
