Changes in store for Kelly Field?
Menlo Park, posted by Editor, The Almanac Online, on Feb 27, 2008 at 7:31 pm

The campaign to increase Menlo Park's sports field inventory will pick up this week as the Parks and Recreation Commission discusses reconfiguring Kelly Field and building lighted, artificial-turf fields at the 8.3-acre park. The commission meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Onetta Harris Community Center, 100 Terminal Ave. in Belle Haven.

    Three things:

Where is the net gain in fields? Sure, we get a new adult size field but the current field is aweful darn close to full size. Why spend all that money when we don't get any NEW fields?

Same with the ball field. It is too small because of hwy 101 in the back. You can move the field but what do we really gain? Again, no new fields.

Finally, where is the money coming from? RDA money? Measure T is supposed to go to the new gym/gymnastics. We already got our Measure T money for the current Kelly Park renovation.

One more thing. Why don't we look at Bayfront again? I always liked that idea.
