I am a founder of DERAIL, a Califronia 501(c) public interest corporation and hope you will visit www.derailhsr.com, our website, which has plenty of information about this project. This project, if ever built, as presently envisioned, will have a tremendous impact on our community.
This note is to call attention to the radio program FORUM, on KQED which was broadcast on Monday May 12,th at 9:00 AM. You can listen to it on the internet by going to:
and looking for the May 12 listing.
The description for the program is:
In November, California voters will be asked to pass a $10 billion ballot measure to finance a high speed rail system between San Diego and Sacramento. We take a look at the proposal.
Host: Michael Krasny
Erik Nelson, transportation reporter for the Oakland Tribune and Bay Area Newspaper Group
Lee Harrington, executive director of the Southern California Leadership Council and former CEO of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation
Quentin Kopp, San Mateo County Superior Court judge and chair of the California High Speed Rail Authority
It is an informative program, even though slanted more favorably towards the project than against. If you do listen, pay special attention to some of the comments of Mr. Harrington. I managed to call in and got in my "two cents worth" at about 27 minutes into the program.
If you care to see our viewpoints on the project, just visit the website -- www.derailhsr.com
