Letter: Equality is key issue in Proposition 8 vote
Around Town, posted by Editor, The Almanac Online, on Oct 22, 2008 at 3:06 pm

No one in America should be a second class citizen. Denying gay and lesbian couples the same right to marry as heterosexual couples puts them in a second class.

>>How one might personally feel about homosexuality should play no part in how to vote on this proposition<<

This is among the dumbest statements Ive heard in these editorials. Of COURSE it plays a part in how I vote. If I don't believe in something I'm not going to support it. Im not going to support something that is wrong. So I will vote against it.

Maybe I personally think that stealing is ok. I think Ill decriminalize it....or maybe prostitution...oh..oopss..someone is already working that cause in SF.

No one in America should be a second class citizen. If you are 18 years old, you can vote for the President, you are legally responsible for your actions and will be tried as an adult should you break the law. If you are 18 you can join the Armed Forces and go to combat and fight for your country. But ... you... can .. not..drink...a...beer.

Now that is real second class. Denying us the right to buy and drink a beer puts us in second class.

How about fighting for us Beth, you'd get a lot more support than trying to change the definition of marriage since the existance of mankind. This isn't about giving the gays rights they don't have. They can make all the civil arrangements and contracts they want. They want to change the definition of marriage from bride and groom to Party A and Party B. We 18 year olds just want to Party Down.

Vote Yes for Prop 8. Make Beth legal, she was definitely drinking underage when she wrote this.
