The expense of a ballot renewal of the parcel tax could be easily avoided if we could all just agree to mail our checks directly to Charles for the police retirement fund and the construction industries' rebate program.

How does the Town of Atherton expect its residents will react to increased taxes when:

(1) the budget for ongoing legal turmoil (put another way, the sport of allowing the egos of the town council members, police chief and town manager to run rampant) has increased 2.5 times to AT LEAST $500,000 per year?

(2) police management is going to lavish offsite retreats to Carmel?

At least in the federal government bailouts, some effort was made to keep the optics of the situation halfway reasonable (the forced resignations of the various bailed CEOs, for example).
