All this work on the grade crossings seems nice but it doesn't correct the problem, ie the grade crossings. All the improvements do nothing to increase safety, prevent suicides, car-train accidents, noise, traffic disruption and pollution. The only way to solve these problems is to eliminate grade crossings as soon as possible and electrify the line. These improvements are a sop to the reactionary elements of the obstructionist of the mid-peninsula who equate the bucolic and atavistic passing of the trains at grade level as somehow beneficial to our way of life. As far as Atherton is concerned, we should demand grade seperation at the two crossings in our community and that our town council stop obstructing progress toward that end.
