If Steve Jobs had had a similar relationship with a council woman or man, I wonder how much trouble he would have had to go through to remove that ugly Jackling House or just tear in down?

Woodside and its very rich inhabitants who DO have a great working relationship with the San Mateo County board seem to get quite a bit of favoritism especially when they are involved in donating property for parks, acts of "philanthropy", or just in general.

Dr. Weiss and his wife, who probably could, as "Woodsiders" have been able to afford the fine and it was convenient the Mayor was away and Councilwoman Deborah Gordon recused herself.Convenient.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking it. Dr. Weiss is a concierge doctor catering to the rich worried well in Woodside where they are likely better characterized as the very rich worried well. It's easy for his wealthy patrons to lean on people they know to have his way. It's one of the many advantages of prostituting one's self to the rich. The loss of self-respect is a small detail that one can easily dismiss as a necessary evil.
