Montreal Piano Phenom Mimi Blais Performs 10/28 in Menlo Park

Original post made by Nan Bostick, Menlo Park: Felton Gables, on Oct 11, 2009

Montreal's piano phenom Mimi Blais brings a special Halloween treat to her many Mid-Peninsula fans performing spine-tingling ragtime and other delights Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7:00 PM at Menlo Park's First Baptist Church, 1100 Middle (corner Arbor). Suggested donations of $25 or any amount will be collected at the door to be shared with the local Children's Ministry. Costumes encouraged. Doors open at 6:30 PM and reservations are not required. For more information, contact Carol Maslin at 650-323-8544 or cjmaslin@juno.com. Map at: Web Link.

Mimi is one of the most highly trained and gifted pianists on the U.S. and international circuits, particularly noted for her flawless technique at the piano, her wit and charming French accent, and the humorous Gaslight Era personas she adds to her energetic and highly entertaining performances. Often dubbed the female Victor Borge, the Celine Dion of the keyboard, and the French Canadian Liberacette, Mimi is a top headliner at music festivals worldwide, including the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary and the Oslo, Norway Jazz Festival. She studied at the Quebec Conservatory of Music and McGill University in Montreal, earning advanced degrees in both classical piano and performing arts. And can she ever perform, adding humor, history, theatrics, and always music that caresses, dazzles, speaks to the audience, and touches the soul.

Mimi's future schedule prevents her from returning to California next year so be sure to catch this one-evening-only Halloween season performance. Mimi's 10th CD, "Silent," is now available featuring music from the silent movie era. Her CDs and performance schedules are available via her website: www.mimiblais.com.
