M-A Twins win Silver and Bronze at US Champs

Philipp and Daniel Kopisch participated this weekend in the US Championships in Orienteering. This sport requires to literally "think on your feet". Orienteering isn't just running through the forest. Try reading a demanding scientific journal while running in an unfamiliar place to get an understanding for what these boys do while orienteering. Navigating with a very detailed orienteering map through rugged terrain at high running speed requires both physical endurance and careful attention to detail. Philipp and Daniel are currently sophomores at M-A. At the beginning of the year they won the Bay Area Interscholastic Championships in Orienteering and went on to Westpoint to the US Interscholastic Championships where they finished 3rd with their team.

This weekend at the US Indvidual Championships Philipp finished in 2nd place - 32 seconds behind the US Champion - and Daniel finished in 3rd place - 7 seconds before the 4th place finisher. Congratulations to both for outstanding achievements!

Check out www.baoc.org if you are interested to find out more about the sport of orienteering.
