SHP girls win CCS polo title but M-A is upset again

Original post made on Nov 24, 2009

That was the bottom line for two top-ranked teams at the Central Coast Section girls' water polo championships on Saturday at Santa Clara University. Sacred Heart Prep (22-8) was expected to win and did, with a dominating defense and just enough offense.

Several people have commented that this was one of the best water polo matches they had ever seen. The two teams were evenly matched with good players, plays, coaching and sportmanship setting the stage. This could have gone either way and all in attendance that day know this. M-A has reason to hold their heads high for they too are champions. It certainly was an exciting event and thanks go to all, including Santa Clara Univ. and Keith Wibur for hosting.
