Menlo-Atherton thrills 6th Man Club with thrilling victory (47-45)

The M-A Bears won another tight game against a strong Aragon Team on Thursday night at Aragon. Both teams came out cold for a combined first quarter score of only 11 points. The pace quickened in the 2nd quarter as the players leveraged their skills and athleticism. In another back and forth game that went down to the wire, with numerous lead changes and ties, the final outcome showed the character of the M-A Bears cardiac kids. With one second to go, and M-A up by two, Aragon could only throw up a desperation shot as once again M-A’s Award Winning 6th Man Club stormed the courts.

M-A was led by Walbank Mahoney who dominated the paint and was high scorer for the Bears with 12 points. Also contributing were the Big 3 Seniors for M-A; Reed Foster with 11, Nils Gilbertson with 10 and Jeff Keller with 6. Great defense by Miles Brewer and a crucial layup by Christian Perkins helped seal the win.

M-A is now 4-2 and next plays St. Francis at Serra on Saturday, 12/19/09 at 7:00 pm.
