Former U.S. senator and former presidential candidate George McGovern will speak in Palo Alto at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, about his new book, "Out of Iraq: A Practical Plan for Withdrawal Now."

The program, sponsored by the Peninsula Peace and Justice Center in Palo Alto, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto, 1140 Cowper St. Suggested donation is $12 to $25.

Mr. Govern, the Democratic Party's nominee for president in 1972, was the president of the Middle East Policy Council in Washington, D.C., for six years. He holds the Distinguished Flying Cross for service as a bomber pilot in World War II and the Presidential Medal of Freedom for humanitarian service.
