Cats being poisoned in Atherton

Original post made by Colleen Anderson on May 28, 2010

09:07 ANIMAL CALL 100524016
Occurred on Stockbridge Av. .Residents advises that pet cats are returning injured when they return from an abandoned property in the area. Appears the cats are being injured by traps that have been set and poison. Animal control notified. Disposition: Referred To Other Agency.
This isn't funny. Contact Atherton to make sure they do something about this sad situation. I feel the homeowner should be brought up on criminal charges for poisoning cats.

It is my understanding after getting off the phone with Atherton PD it is in the area of 57 Stockbridge. Please if you have pets and live in this area keep an eye on them. If I can be of any help at all on animal poisoning feel free to call me. Colleen 369-4949. This isn't funny. Some of the poisons out on the market like rat poison animals LOVE the taste. We already may have had 2 dogs poisoned on Oak Grove in the back yard in Atherton. Send this to everyone you know in Atherton.

Colleen, Are you saying that it's a specific homeowner that's putting out poison on an abandoned lot? This sounds horrible. Can you be more specific? Which abandoned lot? Has an animal control officer found evidence of poison?

238 Oak Grove Ave in Atherton the homeowner was saying she thinks her dogs were poisoned in her back yard. She contacted the police about this matter. One of the dogs died.

Subject: Neighborhood Cat-tastrophies
We need your help. Pet cats have recently disappeared and/or returned from a long time uninhabited property on Stockbridge with broken legs, and other major injuries and symptoms suggestive of traps and poisoning, etc.
Has anyone seen lost cats or found remains of such? Would also appreciate reports of any recent sightings.
We are especially trying to locate a small (6 pounds) 10-year-old pure white female with green eyes. Please check garages or sheds, etc. Do not approach or try to catch.
Please call or email with information or for more information.

Thank you,

Farida 365-1903 or

True cat lovers don't let their cats roam free. This kind of thing is why.
