Meeting Wednesday on reorganizing schools

Trustees of the Menlo Park City School District will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, to hear more information to help them decide how to reconfigure the three elementary school to accommodate growing enrollment. The school board meeting will be in the district office, 181 Encinal Ave. in Atherton.

Additional information will be presented at a second meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Thatıs when trustees could make a decision on changing the grade levels at Laurel and Encinal schools and shifting school attendance boundaries that could bring future students to Encinal from the Oak Knoll area.

At the Oct. 11 meeting, the districtıs recently hired planner/program manager Ahmad Sheikholeslami will discuss the development of a multi-year facility master plan to guide the planning and construction of facilities, financed by the $90 million bond measure approved by voters June 6.

The presentation is designed to clarify the planning process that will involve staff members and other constituents and the timeline by which planning will occur, said Superintendent Ken Ranella.
