Arnold wants the world to come to Moffett Field
Woodside, posted by Editor, The Almanac Online, on Sep 14, 2010 at 12:32 pm

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has been touring Shanghai since last week in an effort to increase collaboration among Chinese and California businesses, announced Sunday that California will bid to host the 2020 World Expo in the Bay Area -- specifically Moffett Field.

This story sure does ignore the REAL REASON Arnold is in Asia and primarily discussing the HSR which he is going to get.

It is all over the NYTIMES.

R. Gordon, could you be more specific? What are you talking about? The NYT has nothing that I could find but something on a blog about his opposition to the ballot initiative that would suspend greenhouse gas emission legislation.

High Speed Rail is my guess...

I attended the "World's Fair" in New Orleans in 1984. It was a total flop, poorly attended and a big financial loser for the area. Look up the financial history of that event. Huge costs to prepare the area with new facilities, buildings, etc. Easy to explain why no more of them have followed since. Hosting these silly, grandiose "world shin-digs" costs millions (maybe billions now-a-days) and during these economic times will surely never recoup the costs. Arnold has always been a show-off and that is all this is about, including HSR. He's never hesitated to spend other people's money for his own aggrandizement, as with most politicians. The people should veto this nutty idea or our deficit and debt will be even higher.

You forgot "I Remember", that the purpose of Arnold getting money from Asians (progressive bunch) is to make California regain some of its former prestige and almost the entire country is starting to bid on costs to build a network from here and probably employ a few hundred thousand people.

Unless you like flying in those new plastic seats airlines are installing to save money.

Arnie isn't a show off...where do you get that? Bodybuilding is now the biggest sport in Afghanistan and Iran....Sculpturing his body got him pretty far from being an immigrant.

Life is such a conundrum.
