Woodside-Carolmont robotics team wins seven of eight matches
Schools & Kids, posted by Newsboy, a resident of another community, on Mar 21, 2007 at 3:40 pm

This report is from the Sequoia Union High School District:

Team 100, Woodside/Carlmont Robotics Teamrobot performed extremely well at the Silicon Valley Regional in San Jose, March 15-17, 2007.

The Woodside/Carlmont robot won 7 out of 8 matches in the qualifying rounds, earning us a #2 seed position. The team accepted an offer to join the alliance with the #1 seed team, 114, Eagle Strike from Los Altos. Although the alliance lost in the semi-finals, they had a great showing.

The team’s colorful robot, Tube-a-saurus Rex, with its ferocious painted face, was a crowd favorite and attracted quite a bit of media attention.

In addition, the team won the prestigious General Motors Industrial Design Award. This design states: "Celebrates form and function in an efficiently designed machine that effectively achieves the game challenge."
