A recent news report said that the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office soon will make a decision whether or not to seek the death penalty for a homicide crime committed last June at the Hillsdale Shopping Center.

I don't always agree with what my representatives do, and that's fair enough. In fact, that's the nature of a democracy. But when "The People of the State of California," kill a person, I am one of the killers, and I don't want to be. The death penalty is a failed solution, a blight on our judicial system, and ultimately a blow to our humanity.
