Menlo Atherton varsity baseball team loses a close one
Sports, posted by Linda Lange, a member of the Menlo-Atherton High School community, on Apr 20, 2011 at 10:33 pm

The Menlo Atherton Bears varsity baseball team lose a close one in Rancho Cordova on Wednesday April 20, when an error, three ground ball singles finding their way through the infield, and 2nd error allowed Folsom, who had been shut out for 6 innings, to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th. Pitcher Nick Lange didn't allow a runner past second with 7 strike outs, a man picked off first, 7 infield outs, and 3 routine fly balls until the 7th when the game slipped away. The Bears offense was throttled with only 4 singles (Eason, Zirbes, Lange, Cook) and 7 well hit balls to the outfield, all of which failed to find a gap. They scored in the 3rd with a lead off single by Casey Eason, a walk to Kyle Zirbes, a sacrifice bunt by Nick Lange moving Casey to third and a long sacrifice fly to center by Miles Brewer, scoring Casey, for what turned out to be the only run.

The Bears are 3-1, seeding them 1 or 2, in the tournament and play one more game on thursday.
