Atherton: Resident foils burglar with yells, claps

A resident of West Atherton responded to a suspicious noise and apparently foiled a burglary by yelling and clapping her hands after she discovered a man trying to push in the window screen in a spare bedroom at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, police said.

I'm a bit confused by this story. Do you mean the woman was clapping for the police officers who came to arrest the burglar? I guess I don't understand the context of the clapping otherwise.

She was making noises to get the would-be burglars to depart, which they did.

She did more than the atherton "police" did....they couldn't even catch em...they were busy picking up newpapers and turning off sprinklers. Time to get some real cops in here...outsource to Menlo Aprk or the Sheriff...save millions at the same time.
