Year-round aquatics programs at Burgess Park

NOTE: This is a report from Menlo Swim and& Sport, the company that operates the new Burgess Park pools.

Menlo Swim and Sport announces its fall line-up of programs designed to offer year-round activities for all ages at Menlo Park’s Burgess Park pools.

As the days get shorter and the weather cooler, Menlo Swim and Sport adjusts its programs to transition from summer to fall’s back-to-school schedule. Featured new additions include expanded Swim School lessons, more Aqua Fit classes, and the beginning of year-round practices for the SOLO swim team.

The Adrienne Mattos Swim School now offers more lesson options for both kids and adults. The well-respected school introduces private and semi-private lessons for kids and extends afternoon hours to accommodate after-school swimmers. Private adult lessons are also offered year-round.

By popular demand, the Aqua Fit program has been expanded. There are now three levels to choose from. Aqua Fit Deep uses deep-water jogging and exercises to challenge and strengthen the entire body. Aqua Fit Shallow focuses on increasing aerobic fitness and muscle tone while having fun in the water. Aqua Fit Lite offers gentle exercise without any strain to weight-bearing joints, perfect for rehab and stress reduction.

Year-round youth swim team practices are starting this month. The Menlo Park community's well-known and popular age-group swimming program, SOLO, is back at Burgess after a construction hiatus. Kids from age five on up can learn about team swimming and achieve competitive goals with practices five days per week.

“We’re very excited about the fall season and we aim to keep people in the pool by providing as many varied activities as possible through the winter months”, says Tim Sheeper, Director of Menlo Swim and Sport. “We’d like swimmers of all ages to find something fun to do at the pool all during the year. That might be water polo, team workouts, or doing laps. Whatever healthy, outdoor sports we can think of, the goal is to make the place available to everyone with a wide variety of activities.”

Find out about the new programs by checking the website at www.menloswim.com or by visiting the pool Monday through Friday 9:00am–5:00pm or Saturday–Sunday 10:00am–4:00pm. Aqua Fit offers a free class for first-timers and the public is welcome to come watch lessons and workouts any time.
