Censorship and the APOA Atherton, posted by Karl Marx, a resident of the Atherton: other neighborhood, on Jun 26, 2011 at 11:32 am
With the tremendous service the APOA is doing for the Town in posting meetings to YouTube, I would like to know:
1. Why the initial part of the 6/15 council meeting, public comments, in which a resident was criticizing the police department and an officer in particular with a K-9 unit, was not posted?
2. With all of the attention being given to police donations, including on council meetings, why was the recent thread locked in which citizens were discussing the Menlo School scholarship to the former police chief's child?
My question is was this thread locked by the police department?

The initial part of the 6-15 meeting will be posted later. The videographer showed up a half hour late. We are getting a copy of the recording from the Town. You can catch the last part of the comments regarding the K9 Officer on Video 2 of 7.
The Almanac Editors will have to comment on your other question.

While it may not qualify as evidence tampering--Somebody has sure "volunteered" a lot of time and trouble into editing these tapes.
Why would this be? You should all be wondering.
Unfortunately-I'm going to have to reserve my gratitude to the APOA for putting themselves in charge of taping these meetings to begin with and then using their own resources and editorial skills to present a controlled version via the local press with creative use of volume and missing sentences. Sorry guys-I was there.
But- as to who we might thank........let's see now....
What "Atherton resident" with direct ties to the APOA, a future in local law enforcement, and enhanced technology skills might have been motivated to provide this public service out of the simple goodness of heart?

Louise has made an accusation and Peter has supported it in the absence of any facts. Remember your manta Peter that, "facts are important". So the solution for you Peter is to get the facts on your accusation that selective taping and editing is done by APOA. You can do so by getting a copy of the audio recording made by the Town which is available for sale for a modest price and comparing it with the video sound.
As pointed out the APOA will post in the near future the town audio that was missed by the video taping for the first 30 minutes and perhaps they will post the entire meeting audio so you then can compare the offical town audio and the APOA video.

I'm paranoid? Why was the scholarship thread locked then, editor? Care to explain it? Are you saying it had nothing to do with the police department? They didn't call you or threaten you to lock it or remove it?

Luckily for us, I've archived the current APOA recordings so when they try to change them back to match the actual recording, proof will still be there. Nice try, guys.
Still no answers about locking a thread about an expensive scholarship being given to a police chief's kid. APOA states we have to ask the Almanac about that. Note they didn't deny their involvement in it, though.
And it just so happens that the tape begins right after a resident criticizes a police officer who's gotten a ton of bad press lately. A coincidence? A late arrival of a video taper?
Do the criminals the APD collars get away with such excuses?
