I hope the town council remembers that the uncalculated cost of our public employees is the cost of supporting retired employees after CalPERS no longer can. Given the CalPERS politically motivated leadership and the nowhere-near-attainable 8.25% assumed returns,we will left holding a very big ball of debt.

Why must public employees feel so entitled? I'm proud of the town of Atherton for working towards fiscal responsibility for their residents--that's what we need from our government. I'd be glad for any of those 13 jobs as would many other unemployed residents. It's time to take a step back from those firm commitments to your high end bargaining, unions. Many of us are chomping at the bit, ready to provide services for less.
