Long-time Menlo-Atherton football and wrestling coach Ben Parks passed away in his sleep Friday night. He was 77. Known simply as "Coach Parks," he has profoundly influenced thousands of students, not just the athletes he coached. He put kids first and nothing else was second, says longtime local sportswriter Rick Eymer.

Coach Parks is synonymous with M-A. A true role-model to students regardless of background and personal history by his work ethic, dedication and commitment to the students. He will forever remain a bright star in MA history and the folks in heaven are going start running some laps ;-)

Ben and Ralph, so sorry for your loss. We were fortunate to have Coach looking out for us, for the sports program at MA and for the community. He will be missed. RIP Coach!
