New pitch made for sparing Granny oak tree

Four days ahead of a Sept. 6 deadline for destruction, the neighbors of a centuries-old heritage oak tree called "Granny" in North Fair Oaks voted to send the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission a new proposal for saving the tree that appears to resolve the one issue standing between failure and success.

Please have the neighbors or the group who cares so much for one tree to pay the $296,000.00 for tunneling. Surely the tax payer should not bear the cost to satisfy a small group of people. Plenty of trees in our wonderful City.
