Is Almanac asking the right questions about finance director retirement Atherton, posted by Questions, a resident of the Atherton: other neighborhood, on Nov 1, 2011 at 10:44 am
Last night's Almanac article quoted retiring Atherton finance director Louise Ho as saying she was not fired, but rather elected to retire.
This could be true, but the circumstances suggest additional questions need to be asked. It is well-known that sometimes people are offered the chance to resign or retire as an alternative to being fired.
For example, does Ms. Ho have another job lined up? She seems too young to retire, as far as I'm concerned.
My concern comes from the abrupt nature of this change, and, if it turned out not to be voluntary, the possible reasons for this that could be linked to financial scandals within the town.
I want to make clear I do not believe Ms. Ho is part of such scandals. I think perhaps she may have been involved in being unwilling to sweep them under a rug.
This is the second finance director in a row to be leaving under suspicious circumstances.
These questions need to be asked. These questions need to stay up and not be deleted. They are questions, not accusations.

Seems only people who have worked for Danielson in the past can now work in Atherton. We need to start getting independent people in our city management. I guess we will need to get another Interim person!
