How are they going to make the sidewalk jump from one side of the street to the other? Tunnels? Stop lights? Or just crosswalk where pedestrians will have to run for their lives to get across the street? If the sidewalk is convoluted and dangerous, no one will use it. They should just put the sidewalk on the north side of the street all the way from Stanford to Portola Road.

A model may be the crosswalk and traffic light at Stanford Ave. and Junipero Serra Blvd., where pedestrians and drivers appear to have established a routine of making room for each other.

the absolute hatred of Stanford never ceases to amaze me from these people..

Stanford brings jobs, tax revenue and prestige to the area.. the area in turn pays it back with hatred and distrust.. why? I'm guessing because Stanford is something these fools can't control, and it is driving them nuts

If it's a choice between being a dupe and being a cynic, given the complete lack of transparency of Stanford's operations to the public and particularly to its neighbors, and given Stanford's resources and given its obvious attitude of looking out for itself first and foremost -- this is not a public university, after all -- I will choose cynic EVERY TIME.

I don't think I hate Stanford, but I do not and never will trust a word of what it says.

Stanford wants to hand you $10 million dollars in an era where money is scarce, and a bunch of NIMBYs start complaining. Typical.

If Weekend Acres is too big an issue to overcome then why doesn't the County just use the money to connect Portola Valley to the Dish Trail and make it safe for kids, families, and commuters to use that far.

The opposition to the trail don't seem to disagree that the existing trail is unsafe, they just seem to not like Stanford and seem to have some other global political agenda. If the trail didn't need significant upgrades, I could understand - but it is unsafe and basically unusable.

Hopefully common sense prevails.
