Computer heist estimated at $31,000 at Hillview

Another school-based computer theft, this time 30 laptops valued at $31,000 at Hillview Middle School in Menlo Park, occurred Friday, Nov. 25, police said.

With pretty good laptops available in the $250 range someone either vastly overspent for these computers or bought them s5 - 6 years ago and must believe they are still worth more than $1000 each.

Also, one wonders how long it took the MP police to get to the scene? One or two people don't just go loping off with 30 laptops without leaving lots of broken pieces behind.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Is there more to this story than we're being told?

I believe these are the shared laptops that live on a cart so they can be easily transported from classroom to classroom...and just as easily removed from the campus. No getaway vehicle needed!

I agree that the "value" of $1000 is probably not what the computers are actually worth, especially if they are Macs!
