I am very appreciative to have a citizen within our midst, Didi Fisher, who is concerned and thoughtful enough to try to provide the community with the ability to weigh in on where the Library should be located. This is particularly important since the Council did not choose to listen to the voice of the people that requested through a petition as well as at a Council meeting that a Master Plan be developed for the Town before making a decision on this topic.

I want to see that the democratic process is followed and I want our Council members to be responsive to the concerns of the people they are supposed to represent. It is an embarassment to witness the unwillingness of three Council members to be objective about this issue. Logic dictates that the most reasonable approach to evaluating where the Library should be located is to study all possibilities before making a final decision. This decision impacts the Town for many years down the road so one would think that the Council members would want to know that they conducted and evaluated a complete study of the various options before reaching a final conclusion. This would be serving the community's interests in the correct manner. We can not tolerate decisions that are made by our representatives that are based on a bias or serving a personal interest!

Let's take action and do our part by providing our signature/s early in the new year and also contributing whatever we can to help cover the expense of an attorney. We need to get this right for now and for posterity!
